The Blue Advance 5.0 is another lucrative option among the budget phone, which offers all the features of an average smartphone at an unbelievably low price. Hence when you are considering buying the Advance 5.0, get a quick glimpse into the review to find out important information about the phone.
Needless to say that you would be compromising on a few features when buying the Blu Advance 5.0, you would also be gaining a lot when you look at the low price. The phone offers an android Vanilla experience with a gala 5 inch screen size, and the processor of 1.3 GHz Mediatek 6580.
The Florida based manufacturer has released the phone in an unlocked state. This means you will have the liberty to choose your operator. It’s a GSM phone, and you will have to use a GSM SIM card only. That is why customer using Verizon and Sprint CDMA services will not find the phone to work for them. Else the phone is great to go with all other operators.
You would get a display of 5 inches, and a screen resolution of 854×480 pixels. Coupled with that, the processor of 1.3 GHz and 768 MB of RAM offers decent speed. The smartphone’s internal storage is of 4 GB which is fairly good. You can also expand the storage by using a micro SD card in the card slot. The front camera is of 2 MP and the primary back camera is of 5 MP. There is an LED flash light. The smartphone supports 4G SIMs with the 4G/HSPA technology. Battery has an average life with 1800 mAh. The OS is Android 5.1 Lollipop.
To minimize the cost of production without compromising with the standard screen size, they have used IPS LCD screen instead of AMOLED display. Arrangements like this and the use of the Quad core MediaTek processor instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor reveals how Blu has managed to produce the smartphone at such low cost to offer it at the budget price.
An interesting punt to note is that, though the battery is a low 1800 mAh, yet it will last through the day, because the screen it will be powering has a resolution which is one fourth the standard HD display used in higher end phones. The cameras are decent performers, and you would be able to carry on pretty well with selfies and chats and smart snaps.
Project Volta, the battery saving software app of Google can be used on the Android 5.1 in the Blu advance 5.0.
While the phone offers an expansion of storage with the micro SD card slot, you cannot store all apps or install all the apps on the SD card. But you may use the internal memory for apps while use the micro SD card for storing pictures and videos and sound media.
The Blu Advance 5.0 offers you a dual SIM advantage. One SIM slot is for a nano SIM and another for a regular SIM.
Design and Built
The phone body looks and feels quite interesting. The body is of metal, and the back cover is of plastic. But the back cover feels and looks like leather to touch. The phone measures only 0.3 inches in thickness and weighs just 3.4 ounces, which makes it a nice low budget thin and light smartphone option. The USB port is at the top instead of the bottom of the phone as comes with other standard smartphones in market. This may feel strange for the first days when you use it until you get accustomed.
Reviews are quite positive about the smartphone. Users reported to be happy with the absence of bloatware, and nice use of apps in the limited memory. Gaming is also easy and does not slow down the phone. There is no apparent lag with the phone usage, app switching etc. However the problem that you may face is with the limited storage space. That’s because even if you mount micro SD card, you won’t be able to install all apps and games on it, and will have to save the space for storing media files.
